Washington Leadership Academy |
|
This past September all state officers from across the nation took part in the second annual Washington Leadership Academy. We started out the conference learning more about ourselves and other. We toured around Washington in a night light tour and took some great pictures. We learned more about HOSA and what it means to us and how to promote and advertise it to other members back home. All these skills became necessary when we learned about House Bill, HR 3816 that was being talk about in Congress. This bill establishes a grant to qualified youth serving organizations to help establish and expand emergency preparedness pipelines consisting of: (1) health science curricula in secondary schools, institutions of higher education, and continuing education programs that prepare students for careers as health care professionals; and (2) school-based emergency preparedness chapters. We took on this challenge by meeting with Senators and Congressmen. We asked them to promote and talk about this amazing bill that can be great opportunity for HOSA. |
