Howdy! I, Darlene Annette Garcia, am more than honored to serve as the 2008-2009 Area 7 President. As your elected leader I will try my best to ensure that this HOSA year is as memorable as any other. It is in my nature to complete each and every one of my duties, therefore I can assure you that you rest in good hands. HOSA was first brought to my attention freshman year, and has ever since taken an active roll in my life. I have competed in the event Research Persuasive Speaking for the past three years, and will do so this year as well. As a junior I was encouraged by my health science teacher to run for office; more specifically, she strongly suggested I run for the presidential position. Now, thanks to your support, I have accomplished that goal. Currently, I am a senior at Homer Hanna High School in the TM program, which centralizes its studies around medicine. I also happen to be an honorary member of the National Junior Honor Society and enjoy participating in other competitive events, such as History Fair. In the future I would like to pursue a career as a medical attorney. Medicine has always caught my interest, but my passion for public speaking and devotion to debate have steered me toward becoming a lawyer. For that reason, I came to the conclusion that I would be delighted to specialize as an attorney that defends my field of interest, medicine. I look forward to organizing the fall and spring leadership conferences with the assistance of my fellow officers. Best of luck to all members in your competitive events and school year!
