Area 5

Health Occupations Students of America, Texas Association

Welcome!!

It’s already the start of a new year, and that means it is time to get back into conference mode.  Our fall leadership conference will be held at Haltom High School on October 20.

Each student will attend three workshops: HOSA Competitive Events, an interactive ropes course, and the exciting new series entitled “You and Your Health.”

Students can choose to participate in two activities from the “You and Your Health” workshop.  Here is a glimpse of some of your choices.

Yoga – An experienced instructor will guide you through several stress-relieving and mind-clarifying motions to ease the tensions of life and school.

Nutrition Seminar – Gain insightful tips on how to maintain a balanced diet as a busy student “on-the-go.”

Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine – Not sure you want to be an M.D.?  Learn about the exciting practice of osteopathic medicine, its beneficial effects on the body, and its holistic approach to healing.

Massage Therapist – A relaxing state of tranquility awaits as you experience and perform the techniques used by professional massage therapists.

A new addition to this year’s fall leadership conference is an officers’ luncheon.  Each chapter should select only three representatives from your school to take part in this fun-filled and informative event.

Take note: To be entered in the raffle at the closing ceremony, each chapter must bring a “themed basket” not to exceed $25.00.  You may choose from one of these suggested themes or create your own.

· Spa Package

· Coffee/Book

· Sweet Tooth

· Sports Basket

· Movie Night

Increase local unity and show your HOSA spirit by wearing your HOSA chapter t-shirt.  A prize will be awarded to the chapter with the best HOSA shirt design.  In addition, be sure to wear jeans or athletic shorts (appropriate length) and tennis shoes for physical activities.  Flip-flops are not allowed.

See you soon at the 2007 HOSA Fall Leadership Conference!
