Meet the Reporter

Hello!

           My name is Richard Del Val and I have been in HOSA since the beginning of my sophomore year. I live in El Paso, attend Canutillo High School, and I will graduate this upcoming May. In my first year in HOSA I was simply a member of my chapter but I quickly fell in love with the organization. That is why in my second year as a member I decided that I wanted to hold a position as an officer in my chapter and in my area. I won the position as treasurer for my chapter and will never forget the day that I ran for a position as an area officer. On the day of the elections I was so nervous that I bumped into the podium upon standing on the stage. To make things worst I forgot what I was to say in the middle of my speech and accidentally let slip the words, “oh my god.” It made everyone, me along with them, laugh but at the same time it calmed me down because it showed me that we are all simply students that share the same common interests. We like to laugh, compete, and have fun! I am glad to have gotten the position as the area four reporter and can gladly say that I would trade this experience for nothing in the world. I encourage anyone, and everyone, to join HOSA because I know that it will help them grow as much as it did to me!
