Hi, My name is Kelsey Chriss. I'm so happy to be your 2007-2008 Area 3 president! I am a senior at North Garland High School, in Garland, Texas! Besides HOSA I am also president of my youth group at church. This year I am going to be involved in the Pharmacy Technician program that is available at North Garland. This is my second year in HOSA and I love every bit of it. HOSA for me is an amazing group that has helped me developed my passion to be a doctor in the health care profession. Not only did HOSA show me how fun it is to be a part of the medical field but the reality and the devotion it takes to make it through. With out HOSA and the great advisors I have had my future would be much more unsure and foggy.
After I graduate from high school I plan to major in bio medical engineering or go through the pre-med program. Eventually I plan to become a neonatologist, or a pediatrician specialized in the nursery. I'm not sure which way I want to go but I know I love babies. I'm interested in going to Southern Methodist University, Texas Christian University, Baylor in Waco, and University of Texas in Austin.
I have great expectations for this year. Our goal as Area 3 is to reach out to the other chapters in all the area. We want to get them involved and active in Area events. We also want to encourage people to become excited about being officers in their chapters, their areas and even in their state! We also want increased attendance at all of our conferences. Our Fall conference will be held at Mount Pleasant High School on October 11th, and our Spring Conference at Dallas Townview High school on February 1st and 2nd! This year we want to also get everyone enthusiastic about our nation service project "Autism Speaks"! Approximately 67 children are diagnosed with autism everyday, and research projects for autism do not receive adequate funding. I want to congratulate all that participated at Nationals in Orlando, Florida! And to remind all to STUDY STUDY STUDY for this year! Hope to see you at all of our conferences!
